Keeping Colorado Cool

Knight Mechanical is owned and operated by a husband, dad and local community member. We are here to help you get the most out of your Colorado air conditioner, swamp cooler, and portable air conditioner. When we come into your home to do an Air Conditioner or Swamp Cooler Check Up we have a protocol that sets us apart from other central air conditioner service providers!

Our Check Up Protocol

• We call before we show up.

• We are on time and if we will be late, we will let you know!

• We invite you to come with us to look at your Air Conditioning System (we don’t suggest you come with us for Evaporative or Swamp Cooler Check Ups because they are usually on roofs).

• We will explain what we see, and what it means.

• We will sit down with you and go over your options.

• We will invoice you for your service and/or include the options we previously discussed.

Someone posted on Facebook that I don’t need to have my AC Serviced. Is that true?

A properly cared for Air Conditioning Unit has a life span of up to 20 years! We believe in getting the most bang for our buck, so naturally we service our AC’s yearly. Here are 5 reasons to get an air conditioner tune up every 12 to 24 months!

• To remove dirt, dust, debris and environmental elements that may restrict air flow

• To restore much of your AC unit’s lost efficiency and capacity and improve reliability

• Use preventative measures to catch problems before they lead to costly repairs or replacements.

• Check refrigerant levels and charge (when needed) Air Conditioning units to manufacturers’ recommendations (undercharged units are the leading reason for Air Conditioning replacements in Colorado)

• Proficiency: A properly charged and cleaned AC lowers your energy cost

I have a Swamp Cooler, does it need to be serviced?

Swamp Coolers are less intensive than Air Conditioners, although taking proper care of your Swamp Cooler will increase it’s efficiency and allow you to have cleaner, better smelling air in your home!

Here are 3 Tips to Keep Your Swamp Cooler Fresh!

• Replace your humidifier pads every 3-5 years

• Have an automatic flush, this keeps fresh water in your system at all times

• Always crack your windows to create a cross flow of air

While evap coolers are easier to maintain it is imperative that your swamp cooler is properly started and shut down (and winterized) each season! These measures will reduce the chances of flooding, lines bursting, rusting, and premature swamp cooler replacements.
